I’m sure everyone has noticed my unofficial hiatus so to speak.

I owe you an explanation. During my externship I was not taught anything. At all. I was able to work on maybe 5 cakes over the course of 4.5 months, as well as cutting out some cupcake toppers towards the end. The rest of the time I spent washing dishes, cleaning up the studio, and making buttercream (and let’s not forget questioning and eventually hating every life choice I’d made to lead me there).

I haven’t been posting lately because I’ve been depressed- working in that environment turned cake decorating from something I loved into something I hated/feared/dreaded. (I’ve also been having some health issues but that’s beside the point)

So I’m moving to a farm! Not joking. 100% serious. I will probably continue to post recipes but of a much more rustic, natural aesthetic. Thank you for staying with me.

Absolutely awesome Vegan Trailmix Cookies from Sweet to the Soul. I made a batch of these for a “happy trails” gift basket this weekend.

Just popping in to let you know that I’ve been tagged by my good friend at fruits-in-a-bazaar to do a “six selfie” post. Since I try not to post personal things here, you’ll be able to see that post, and others at tomorrowanyday

Also in the news, I’ll probably have a chalkboard cake tutorial and a trail mix cookie recipe for you guys sometime this weekend!

Oatmeal/raisin/almond/chocolate chip Cookies!
I used a standard Oatmeal Raisin recipe, but instead of 1/2 of roasted nuts, I chopped up 1/2 of trader joe’s bittersweet chocolate almond pound plus!

AMAZING homemade KIND bar recipe from theyummylife.com
I made the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt version this weekend and they were fantastic. Didn’t feel like going out and searching for Brown Rice Syrup, but I can vouch for the fact that Maple Syrup works just fine.
